- The height adjustable Head-up Display places a virtual instrument panel directly in the driver's line of sight. Vehicle speed is the only permanent display; others are available by driver choice. In addition to road speed, optional displayed items include engine speed, Driver Assistance notices (Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Frontal Collision Notification), navigation directions or selected warning symbols, such as low gas.
Navigation:
Along with the redesigned iDrive, the 7 Series navigation system benefits from numerous improvements, beginning with the new, higher-resolution 10.2'' display and hard-drive database. The combination not only provides much more vivid images, but permits multiple image options, including 3D and multiple perspective views. The previously available Voice Command and Real Time Traffic information features are enhanced by two new internet-based search functions that broaden the traditional Point-of-Interest selection: MyInfo and BMW Search.
Part of the Cold Weather or Luxury Seating Package, a heated steering wheel takes the chill out of cold mornings. A ski bag allows transport of skis or other long items without the risk of soiling the 7 Series interior. Also include heated rear seats, with three levels of heat. Active Support, also included in the Luxury Seating Package, employs two stretchable hollow cavities, filled and emptied alternately with a freeze-proof liquid. The slow, gentle process (about once a minute) creates a cyclical raising and lowering of the cushion's left and right halves by about half an inch, and can be switched on and off as desired. The movement is virtually imperceptible, yet helps relieve fatigue during extended trips. Active Ventilation provides additional warm weather comfort for front seat occupants. The package covers the center backrests and seat cushions with perforated Dakota leather and equips each front seat with a series of tiny fans. These circulate air through the seat at one of three speeds to cool the occupant.
The M Sport Package replaced the Sport Package in 2010 and includes:

Comfort Access adds additional convenience when entering, starting, and leaving the vehicle. This feature eliminates the need to unlock or lock the vehicle or to insert the key into the dash before starting the engine with:
- Keyless access: When selective unlocking has been programmed into the vehicle and key memory, the remote only needs to be present on the driver's person (say in a pocket or purse) to allow the driver to unlock the door by merely pulling on the door handle or pressing the trunk release; the driver can unlock the driver's door by pulling the handle once and the remaining doors by pulling twice
- Keyless starting: User authorization is confirmed by the presence of the remote inside the vehicle; the driver starts the engine by pressing the Start/Stop button
- Keyless engine start-off and vehicle locking: The driver turns off the engine via the Start/Stop button and presses a door handle to lock the vehicle after exiting; in case the remote has been left in the trunk inadvertently, the trunk opens automatically
