    I purchased my 2017 WRX about 6 months ago, and so far I am very pleased with it. Ive been using it as my daily driver. I decided on the WRX while looking for a sporty AWD/RWD sedan under 30k. The WRX is about the only car that peaked my interest at this price point. I considered the STI or Focus RS, but those are both ~9k more MSRP. The WRX is not far off in performance at a much better price. Performance: Pros: The two strongest points for the WRX are the low end torque and the amazing handling. The FA20 makes peak torque at about 2k rpms. This gives the WRX amazing grunt in daily driving. Coupled with the great handling, it is an absolute blast to throw around through some twisty back roads. The handling is very neutral, its easy even for a beginner to drive this car fast. Cons: The FA20 does not have a lot of top end. Peak power is reached at about 5600 RPM while the redline is above 6500. There is also a considerable dip in the curve at about 4.5k RPMS. It makes it feel as if the car isnt pulling as hard at higher revs. There is also a bit of rev hang when shifting gears, you get used to it after a bit, but it can be annoying, especially when shifting at lower RPM. Overall the driving experience is very fun. A tune would likely alleviate the rev hang and improve the top end power delivery. Reliability: Not much to say at this point of ownership. Ive had no major issues with the car(as expected). I did have a fuse go out on one of the electrical sockets which was fixed under warranty. Design: The styling on the WRX is very masculine. It gets a lot of looks, and many complements. I would definitely consider it one of the best looking sedans in the price range. Quality: The WRX does pretty well in this category, but isnt stellar. Most of the interior materials seem pretty decent. Theres some cheap plastic, but that is expected at this price point. The seats and interior have nice stitching and accents. My biggest complaint is with the paint. The paint chips very easily. If you are worried about keeping the paint looking like new, look into getting a clear coat. I already have several rock chips on mine. Comfort and practicality: The WRX is not going to be the most comfortable car. The ride is pretty stiff, so you feel all the bumps. The seats arent bad on long drives, but could be better. They are better suited for holding you in while screaming through tight corners. This car is more designed for performance than comfort, so it does alright for what it is. In the practicality department, it actually beats my expectations. I expected it to suck gas, but it actually does very well on the highway. I tend to average around 26 or 27 combined, and will get 30 or better on road trips. The interior space is actually quite good, my brother at 65 fits comfortably as a driver or passenger. The trunk has a decent amount of room too. Overall, I would highly recommend the WRX, its a great performance sedan, especially for the under 30k segment. The few flaws and quirks are far outweighed by the joy of driving it.

    I started buying Subarus in the summer of 2014, I needed a reliable vehicle for my wife, so, I decided to buy her an Outback, she was so satisfied with the handling of the vehicle, that I traded my 2012 TDI jetta for a 2015 Forester, but always staring at a WRX. The Outback was great, best snow vehicle I ever had, but at 47 years old, I wanted to feel some adrenaline. I do not know how, but I convinced my wife to trade my 2015 Forester for a 2016 black WRX STI. When I bought it, I felt great in the passenger seat, extremely comfortable and the engine rumble, made me feel powerful. I know I should not say that, but one time I engaged in a race with a 370Z Nissan, we were side to side at a 120 MPH, but the car kept asking for more, like telling me, is that all you have?. This is my daily commute car, it catches attention from people, especially young guys and Police patrols. This is a guys car, normally Women are not attracted by it, this is one of the reasons my wife allowed my to buy it. Overall, stiff suspension, good in cornering, good acceleration response, excellent handling, bad on gas(who cares), beautiful design, proven engine, good in dirt and ashfalt. Buy it, you wont regret it.

    This car is amazing to drive. The hydraulic steering, 6 speed manual transmission (short gears, but shifts so smooth), and turbo, is matched with an amazing all-wheel drive system, as well as 3 different differentials which can be adjusted from a 41-59 ratio to a 50-50 lock. It has intelligent, sport, and sport # (sharp) modes as well, which basically adjusts the throttle response (simply put). The suspension is fairly stiff, but that will benefit you in the corners (or on track day). A car seat fits easily in the backseat, the trunk is huge, and I myself am 6'3" and can extend my left leg fully straight out onto the clutch. The vision is awesome out the front windshield, side windows, and even the rear window due to the high rear wing placement (functional by the way). The limited model has less head room due to moon roof, so if you plan to wear a helmet for track day, the base model is better. I have always driven rear wheel V-8, but this is a whole different style or car. Sticks like glue on road.
